A special talk titled “Knowing Our Self” was delivered by Swami Sarvapriyanandaji Maharaj, Minister-in-Charge, Vedanta Society of New York, USA at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri on Sunday, March 1st, 2026. The programme witnessed a remarkable gathering of devotees, admirers, and spiritual aspirants from Jalpaiguri and nearby areas, reflecting deep interest in Vedantic teachings.
The event commenced with solemn Vedic chanting, creating a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. In his illuminating discourse based on the first four teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Deva as presented in the book Sri Ramakrishna Upadesh, authored by Swami Brahmananda, Swami Sarvapriyanandaji Maharaj expounded the essential teachings of Vedanta, emphasizing self-inquiry as the direct means to realize one’s true nature. He highlighted inner strength, purity of mind, clarity of thought, and the practical application of spiritual wisdom in daily life. Drawing from the Upanishads, he explained that Self-realization leads to fearlessness, peace, and purposeful living. The discourse left a deep and lasting impression on the audience.
An engaging interactive session followed, during which participants sought guidance and received insightful responses from Maharaj.
More than 1,300 participants attended, including 1,147 registered delegates (540 male and 607 female), along with monastics, volunteers, police personnel, and staff members.
Tea and biscuits were served at the beginning, and cooked prasad was distributed at the end. Each delegate received a copy of Sri Ramakrishna Upadesh and 50 photographs of the Holy Trinity for spiritual outreach.
The programme concluded successfully, inspiring all toward deeper self-understanding and higher spiritual ideals.
