Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri celebrated the National Youth Day on 12 January 2020 in a befitting manner. The programme started at 8.00 am with flag hoisting, followed by Vedic chanting by monks and releasing colourful balloons. It was followed by a vivid procession participated by around 800 students and teachers from various educational institutions in Jalpaiguri, devotees, admirers and the general public. The entire procession consisting of the Shashwata Baharata Ratha, Viveka Vahini tableau (pertaining to Ramakrishna Math Yogodyan, Kankurgachi, Kolkata), others tableaus, musical band, dhak and nearly 1000 participants holding various festoons, flags, placards, Kalash, etc. looked very appealing and vibrant. The procession covered nearly 5 km in the Jalpaiguri city and was well appreciated by throngs of eager onlookers among whom photographs of Swami Vivekananda, booklets and toffees were distributed.
After coming back to the Ashrama, a short cultural programme was organized in which Swami Shivapremananda and Mr S. Murarka, Deputy Commandant, SSB Sector Headquarter, Jalpaiguri rendered short speeches. This was followed by a musical performance by the SSB band which was immensely enjoyed by all.
